RUSSIA's WAR ON UKRAINE - OVERVIEW OF RELIABLE MEDIA
RUSSIA’s
ATTACK ON UKRAINE
Follow
the independent media
Now a number of democratic countries have decided
to give modern tanks to Ukraine. Very important indeed. And the Dutch
government is open also to send F16 fighter jets to the Ukrainians.
At the same we must follow the development – also
in the media of the two countries. Putin’s Russia has – as you know – forbidden
all critical media. Some follow his instructions and tell what he wants. Others have stopped their activity. And a few
important media have moved abroad to continue their activity from there. They
are worth following for us – in other to know what really happens in the
attacking country:
RUSSIAN INDEPENDENT MEDIA ABROAD:
MEDUZA
- The Real Russia
Daily newsletter. A digest of Russia’s
investigation reports and news analysis. “If it matters we summerize”.
It is published in Russian and in English.
Thousands of Russians follow it by using a VPN
connection ( Virtual Private Network ). Then the authorities have great
possibility to see who gets what.
Meduza is today working from Riga in Latvia. It started in Moscow in 2014.
You can see it in English on this website:
And you can send them views and information on:
THE MOSCOW TIMES:
Russia’s leading, independent English-language
media outlet.
It was started in 1992. But after Putin’s attack
on Ukraine it had to move abroad.
It is now produced in Yerevan in Armenia – with
journalists in many countries.
You can find its news on this website:
https://www.themoscowtimes.com
Information and view may be sent to them on:
NOVAJA GAZETA
An independent Russian newspaper known for its
critical and investigative coverage of Russian political and social affairs.
It was published in Moscow – where several of its
journalists were murdered since 2000, incl. Anna Politkovskaya. In October 2021
its editor-in-chief, Dmitri Muratov, received the Nobel Peace Prize.
In 2022 the new Putin war on Ukraine also meant
that all independent media in Russia were forbidden. Therefore, Novaya Gazeta stopped its
activities in the country.
Instead a number of the newspaper’s staff
started:
Novaya Gazeta Europe
It is also published in Riga in Latvia. And you can consult it in English on the
website:
You can also for free subscribe to a couple of
their newsletters.

systematic disinformation made and distributed by Russia. You can follow it on their weekly report

WESTERN MEDIA – with many
reports from the war:
THE GUARDIAN

NEW YORK TIMES
- www.nytimes.com ( American )
POLISH RADIO - Strona główna - English Section -
polskieradio.pl ( Polish )
RADIO FREE EUROPE / RADIO LIBERTY - https://www.rferl.org
( based in Prague )
THE GLOBE AND MAIL - World - The Globe and Mail ( Canada )
THE IRISH TIMES
- Ukraine Crisis - The Irish Times ( Ireland )
RUSSIAN STATE MEDIA – following the Putin line:
Unlike the Russians who are not allowed to see
news which is not following Putin’s line we in the west are used to have access
to all media. And we are hopefully able to see what is true news and what is
false. Therefore, it is also interesting
to see, what the Russian leaders want people to see and know:
RT ( previously Russia Today ) - www.rt.com (
international Russian TV )
TASS - https://tass.com ( the Russian state-owned news agency )
Good luck!
Be sure that you continue to be up-to-date with developments. And why
not also from time to time send information and views to the independent
Russian media outside Russia. They
welcome it.
